School Bus Safety
Newlands Coach Service ensure that our coaches
meet the safety requirements, and are safe and fit enough to be
driven on our roads. The safety of school children travelling on
our coaches is very important to us.
Together we can help to keep our children safe
while travelling to and from school. Here is some simple but valuable
advice for children and students on how to be safe on our school
buses.

Getting on the bus:
- Stand as far away from the road edge as you can.
- When the bus has stopped, wait until the driver opens the bus
doors.
- Board the bus in single file ready with your smartcard, termpass,
or cash.
- If you are a Secondary student have your student ID ready
Riding on the bus:
- Put your school bag on the floor infront of you, or rest it
on your lap.
- If you are standing up, try to hold onto the rail or the chair
closest to you. Move towards the back of the bus so those students
still boarding the bus have enough room to come in.
- Always stay behind the driver.
- Listen to any instructions the bus driver or bus warden may
give.
- Try not to be too loud, as this may distract the driver.
Getting off the bus:
- Get off the bus through the front door.
- Do not push others when getting off the bus.
- If you are crossing the road, wait as far from the edge of the
road as you, until the bus has moved at least two poles away from
you.
- Listen for any cars and look both ways before you cross.
